Chapter 5 - Active Methods of Fall Protection

Using the WAH Guide as the program workbook, this program introduces active methods of fall protection. Active methods of control include thousands of fall protection items and millions of potential combinations of harnesses, connecting equipment and anchorages. This chapter will review fall protection equipment (manufacturers, testing, categories) and fundamental principles that apply to all combinations of active systems. Travel restraint versus fall arrest, fall energy terminology and limits, how to control fall energy, capacity, anchorages and estimating system performance are topics reviewed in this chapter.
